Don't Hate on Haiti

Spread The Love

12 notes

this is where all the donations have been going and it’s because of all the generous donations that we’ve been able to be a part of this amazing campaign.

The project you helped fund in Caracoll village is in central Haiti in a really remote area that’s difficult to access. Reaching the community of 2,500 people requires a long and bumpy drive in the mountains - when the road cuts off, you have to continue hiking an hour and a half on foot. The community is really spread out across a mountainous landscape and some of them were hiking a steep 45 minutes to gather water from a mountain spring. The spring was open and swampy - and people were afraid to gather water there because cholera (a water related disease) had devastated near by communities.
You’ve helped change that.
Now the spring at the top of the mountain is protected and clean and safe drinking water being piped to the whole community.Charity water volunteers celebrated with the whole community who had hiked all of the project materials to the site and contributed to a lot of the manual labor. They also met the water committee who will be helping maintain the project for years to come.
